Here's What We Learned From Former Acting AG Sally Yates' Senate Hearing

They met that afternoon at the White House, and Yates, accompanied by the top career official in the Justice Department's national security division, dropped a bomb: President Trump's national security adviser, Michael Flynn, had lied to Vice President Pence about Flynn's contacts with Russian Federation. Though Yates would say that Flynn's "activities" were at odds with the statements coming from the Trump White House, she would not give the slightest hint concerning those activities, holding back from even admitting that Flynn was in communications with the Russian ambassador, which is information that's already become widely known. Later that day, at the White House, she told him there was an alarming discrepancy between how Trump officials, including Pence, were characterizing Flynn's contacts with Kislyak and what intelligence officials knew to be true based on recordings they'd reviewed.
"That created a compromised situation, a situation where the national security adviser essentially could be blackmailed by the Russians".
After those skeptical questions, Trump took no visible action against Flynn until a public outcry forced him to. What criminal statutes did Flynn potentially violate? Would taking action against Flynn immediately interfere with the FBI's investigation? By all appearances, Flynn would likely still be the NSA if the Washington Post hadn't uncovered in February the communications with Russian Federation that he'd lied about.
Making her first public statements about the issue, Yates said she feared Moscow could try to blackmail Flynn because it also knew he had not been truthful about conversations he had with Ambassador Sergei Kislyak about US sanctions on Russian Federation.
Yates' concern was that Russian Federation created a "compromise situation" where the national security adviser could be blackmailed. Flynn was a fiery speaker on behalf of Trump during the campaign - and, with no apparent sense of irony, led the crowd at the Republican convention in anti-Clinton chants of "Lock her up".
Obama and Trump haven't spoken since the inauguration, though an aide said Obama would take Trump's call if the Republican reached out. Counterintelligence investigations like this one that examine the operations of foreign intelligence services on US soil are heavily classified, historically time-consuming and rarely result in criminal charges.
"Yes, it is (accurate), and it's also quite sensitive", Clapper said. "The Russia-Trump collusion story is a total hoax, when will this taxpayer funded charade end?" he asked.
FBI Director James Comey has given no timeline for the investigation.
Director Clapper reiterated what everybody, including the fake media already knows- there is "no evidence" of collusion w/ Russian Federation and Trump.
At the White House counsel's request, Yates had arranged for him to see the evidence against Flynn on Monday, Jan. 30. After another meeting with McGahn, Yates learned that Trump, without her knowledge, had issued his travel ban against visitors and green card holders from seven overwhelmingly Muslim countries.
Watch GOP senator nail Sally Yates to the wall: 'Who appointed you to the United States Supreme Court?' John Kennedy, a Louisiana Republican, told Yates in a comment that immediately lit up Twitter.
Upon further inspection, a quick read of Yates's biography makes it hard to claim that she is a stereotypical, garden-variety liberal lawyer/agitator.
USA intelligence agencies have been blunt in their assessment that the hacks of Democratic email accounts were meant to benefit Republican Trump and harm Clinton.
Yates, a longtime federal prosecutor and Obama administration holdover, had been scheduled to appear weeks ago before the House intelligence committee, but that hearing was canceled. Trump's White House press secretary Sean Spicer said in response Monday that if Obama "was seriously concerned" about Flynn's connections to Russian Federation or other foreign countries, he should have withheld Flynn's security clearance.
And we walked the White House Counsel who also had an associate there with him through General Flynn's underlying conduct, the contents of which I obviously can not go through with you today because it's classified.

Pyongyang University of Science and Technology is the country's only for-profit educational institution, Bloomberg reported. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has urged other Asian nations to pressure North Korea to dismantle its programs as well.
