"Those dishes sparkled", said John.

"I'm a scientist, I'm not an artist, and this is pure creativity".

Her meal of venison kebab, duck with Kashmiri cherry chutney and a deconstructed baklava with a saffron, rosewater and cardamom panna cotta was so exquisite that it moved the series judge John Torode to tears.

Inspired by her Pakistani origins, Saliha impressed judges with her "East meets West" menu.

New MasterChef champion Saliha Mahmood-Ahmed says she won't be giving up her day job as a doctor to pursue her love of cooking but is instead aiming to combine the two with a view to helping to tackle the UK's obesity epidemic.

"It involved a lot of hard work and early starts - late nights cooking after 13-hour long shifts, no holidays, no breaks, no sleep - but it was well worth it", Saliha told BBC.

"She always does something a little bit extra - something which always surprises us". "They were clean, crisp, refined and lovely".

Didn't quite work out that way - Duke won only when Vermont failed to get off a shot to beat the buzzer at the end of the game. Dollars is coming off their first regular season conference championship in the Summit League and NIT postseason appearance.

She credited her family for instilling a love of cooking in her.

She dedicated the win to her colleagues and her family.

She explained: "I want to help people who have got coeliac disease or irritable bowel syndrome to find food and diets for them that really are helpful, and see if there is anything that can help improve their quality of life".

The 29-year-old doctor from Watford consistently wowed judges Gregg Wallace and John Torode with her mouthwatering dishes over the nail biting seven week competition. Tarla Dalal, Nigella Lawson, Cyrus Todiwala, Sabrina Ghayour, Atul Kochar and Greg Malouf have been my inspiration over the years.

What is next for Saliha?

"And Wallace also praised her saying, "(East meets West is) simply stunning - handsome art on a plate".

"I'm specialising in gastroenterology and to be able to help patients through medicine and my food knowledge would be incredible".
