"James Comey better hope that there are no tapes of our conversations before he starts leaking to the press!" Trump said of Yates' admonishments about Flynn: "She actually didn't make it sound that way either in the hearings the other day - like it had to be done immediately".

In yesterday's interview with NBC News' Lester Holt, Trump added, "This man (Flynn) has served for many years, he's a general, he's a - in my opinion - a very good person".

Law360, Washington (May 11, 2017, 6:01 PM EDT) - Embattled former national security adviser Michael Flynn has been issued a subpoena by the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence for documents related to the panel's inquiry into Russian interference in the 2016 election, committee leaders said Wednesday.

Trump has faced criticism for allowing an 18-day gap to pass from the time former Acting Attorney General Sally Yates told him about Flynn's interactions with Russians to Trump's decision to fire Flynn.

Mr Trump pointed to Michael Flynn's rank as Lieutenant General in the USA army as the reason why he waited 18 days after receiving a warning from former acting Attorney General Sally Yates, who had told the White House in January that Mr Flynn may be compromised by Moscow.

His mother says that when she asked Gabriel what had happened to him that day at school he had stated that he didn't remember. A school surveillance video shows other students nudging or poking Gabriel with their feet as the 8-year-old lay motionless.

Moscow also put out images of Trump greeting a smiling Sergey Kislyak, Russia's ambassador to the U.S. They got released by the TASS news agency, the Russian embassy, and the Russian Foreign Ministry. "You know that, I know that".

"I was going to fire Comey", said Trump. Everybody knows that. You take a look at the Federal Bureau of Investigation a year ago, it was in virtual turmoil, less than a year ago. "I believed it'd be very unfair to hear from somebody we don't even know and immediately fire them", he continued, referencing Ms Yates's warning and the fact that she is not in his inner circle.

Mr. Comey's account, his answer to Mr. Trump's initial question apparently did not satisfy the president, the associates said. The President admitted, "I actually asked him, yes".

Mr Warner had said on Tuesday the committee has been receiving documents as it investigates allegations that Russian Federation sought to influence the United States election, something Moscow denies.

He said, "You are not under investigation".
