Prosecutors say Brown, a Democrat who represented the Florida district that included Jacksonville since 1993, funneled money from One Door for Education into her personal accounts.

Smith said that he will soon file a motion for a new trial and that Brown continues to insist on her innocence.

She declined to comment as she left the federal courthouse in silence with supporters including her church pastor and drove away.

Corrine Brown's "One Door for Education" charity raised $833,000 between 2012 and 2016 to award scholarships to disadvantaged students-but prosecutors say only $1,200 was spent on a total of two scholarships.

Previous year during a Tallahassee campaign stop Brown insisted investigations into her activities with the One Door Education Foundation was an effort to take her out of Congress:.

A sentencing date has not been set.

Congressman Al Lawson, who defeated Brown in a Democratic primary past year, was circumspect in a statement issued by his office following the verdict.

Two of the mail fraud charges and two of the wire fraud charges Brown is facing deal directly with Brown Johnson and Bright House.

Sally Yates: Russians had 'real leverage' over Michael Flynn
On Tuesday, CNN teased what promises to be an intriguing interview with former Deputy Attorney General Sally Yates . The President later implied that the fired Yates was leaking information about Flynn's firing.

Brown, who served in the lower chamber from January 1993 - Jan. 2017, said she had made some mistakes, but maintained it was not intentional.

He used Brown's own words on the stand against her.

The final chapter of her legacy is being written in a Jacksonville federal courthouse, that she, as a congresswoman, helped build. At the center of the case was the One Door for Education Foundation, which purportedly provided the scholarships.

The charges stemmed from accusations she illegally siphoned thousands of dollars from her charity into her own bank account for lavish parties, trips and shopping excursions.

Brown's attorney has argued Simmons, who was dating One Door founder Wiley at the time, was the mastermind and took advantage of the aging lawmaker and of Wiley.

The former Congresswoman, however, denied the allegations and said she was left in the dark about what was going on with One Door's money, and blamed the theft on Simmons and her other staffers.

She faces up to 20 years for each fraud or conspiracy conviction. Brown's personal account. Sometimes he kept some for himself. The courts chose maps that swapped out one of her power bases in Orlando for parts of North Central and Northwest Florida, including a portion of Tallahassee, that barely knew her.
