The source did not know how many memos Comey had written.
"Obviously, they're in a downward spiral right now", Corker said of the White House. A small number of FBI agents were made aware of the memo and the conversation, and agents kept working on the investigation.
President Donald Trump came under pressure on Tuesday from USA lawmakers, including some of his fellow Republicans, to give a fuller explanation of why he revealed highly sensitive intelligence information to senior Russian officials at a White House meeting last week.
"He was concerned", the second source said.
The Times said Mr Trump told Mr Comey "I hope you can let this go".
Flynn resigned as Trump's national security adviser in February, less than a month into the job, after media reports showed that he discussed US sanctions with Russian Ambassador Sergey Kislyak after the 2016 election, then misled Vice President Mike Pence about the nature of those discussions.
Last week, the Senate Intelligence Committee issued a subpoena for Flynn's "documents relevant to the Committee's investigation into Russian interference with the 2016 elections".
The two top Republicans in Congress, House Speaker Paul Ryan and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, were muted in their response to Trump giving information to Russian Federation.
Along with potentially alienating a key US intelligence gathering partner, President Donald Trump may have directly put people in danger by disclosing classified information to Russian officials during a meeting last week.
In a statement following the Times' report, Bruce Brown, the executive director of the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press, said, "The comments attributed to President Trump cross a risky line".
" "Close it down" is an instruction to stop investigating President Trump's campaign", Toobin said.
In dismissing Comey last week, Trump created the very real possibility that a respected law enforcement official known for an outspoken nature and willingness to buck political convention could resurface in public.
The news of the Comey memo comes less than a week after Trump fired Comey seemingly without warning.
The FBI declined to comment Tuesday. On March 20, he tweeted, "must find leaker now!" in response to successive stories about the ongoing FBI investigation into possible collusion between Trump's associates and Russian officials.
Comey has a history of memorializing controversial conversations and issues - he did so during the George W. Bush administration, where he served as deputy attorney general, with respect to those controversial "enhanced interrogation techniques" used by the Central Intelligence Agency on terror detainees in the wake of 9/11.
The development comes as the Trump administration faces questions over why and how the president fired Comey last week as the FBI was investigating whether Trump's presidential campaign was connected to Russian meddling in the election. Comey said he replied that "I agree he is a good guy" but said nothing to Trump about limiting the investigation. "And I hope that we can get Comey to come up here and testify".
Leaders of the congressional investigations into Russian meddling into the United States election previous year are also calling on Comey to testify.
Top staff, including Pence, left the White House to attend a fundraiser for the America First Policies PAC at a Washington steak house, Del Frisco's. Richard Blumenthal said Tuesday "We are witnessing an obstruction of justice case unfolding in real time". If it did, it would represent an extraordinarily improper effort by the president to influence an FBI investigation.
March 20, 2017: Comey testifies at the same hearing that the Federal Bureau of Investigation and Justice Department have no information to substantiate Trump's unsubstantiated claim on Twitter that former President Barack Obama wiretapped him before the election.
CNN senior legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin summed up the magnitude of the crisis by saying: "Three words: obstruction of justice".
Rep. Joe Wilson, R-S.C., says he too wants more details, but he also notes that Trump's standing with South Carolina Republicans has "actually grown".
"He (Comey) needs to come back before the Congress and share with the public what conversations he had with the President", said Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA).
"I don't know the facts, so I really want to wait until I find out what the facts are before commenting", Sen.
White House adviser Kellyanne Conway, chief of staff Reince Priebus, Trump's director of legislative affairs Marc Short and Energy Secretary Rick Perry are also in attendance, a source told CNN.
"I don't want to read a memo".
In one memo, Comey included a description of Trump talking to him about crowd size at the inauguration.
The president's loyalists on Capitol Hill echoed the White House's attacks on the media to question the latest revelation. "So that alone sometimes calls into question nearly all of these discussions", said Rep. Trent Franks, R-Ariz.
However, Franks also said he would like Comey to testify.
The Senate Intelligence Committee has asked the White House for more information about reports that Trump gave intelligence information to the Russians, a spokeswoman for the panel said.

Spicer repeatedly said "the president has nothing further to add on that" and eventually insisted: "The tweet speaks for itself". Later, OANN's Trey Yingst asks if anyone has an audio recording of what went on at the dinner between Comey and Trump.

Bostian, who has maintained an extremely low profile since the crash and reportedly lives in NY , has not yet been charged. The Amtrak train bound for New York City crashed in Philadelphia, killing eight people and injuring hundreds.

Scottish Liberal Democrat leader Willie Rennie said people were "getting exhausted of the SNP and all their promises". She has also delayed setting out how she will press on with preparing for that referendum until after the election.
