President Donald Trump warned sacked Federal Bureau of Investigation chief James Comey Friday not to "leak" details of their conversations to the media, suggesting they may have been taped.

Fox News host Sean Hannity endorsed President Donald Trump's threat to end daily press briefings during his Friday show, suggesting the commander in chief should simply "tweet out his accomplishments instead".

"There was no evidence that rose to that level, at that time, that found its way in to the intelligence community assessment, which we had pretty high confidence in", the former director of national intelligence said of collusion between Trump campaign aides and Russians, referring also to the U.S. intelligence assessment that Russia tried to influence the presidential election in favor of Trump. Comey hasn't spoken publicly since he was sacked, but an associate said Trump's claims are puzzling, adding that Trump sought a loyalty pledge from Comey during the January 27 White House dinner, which the ex-director declined to give.

Sources have told CNN that Trump's decision to ax Comey was made after he grew increasingly frustrated with him following a congressional hearing last week in which he said he was "mildly nauseous" over the idea that he helped sway the 2016 election.

During Donald Trump's interview with Fox's Jeanine Pirro, the president was asked about whether he would allow for an independent investigation in order to establish that his 2016 campaign did not collude with Russian Federation. Trump's firing of Comey already has left him with the dubious distinction of being the first president since Nixon to fire a law enforcement official overseeing an investigation tied to the White House. Clinton spent the final seven-plus years of his presidency at odds with Sessions' successor, Louis Freeh, but never moved to fire him.

This comes after Spicer, Sanders, Vice President Mike Pence and Trump gave conflicting reports for why former FBI Director James Comey was sacked earlier in the week. Comey declined to testify before the Senate Intelligence Committee; Rosenstein could still address the full Senate.

The lawyers did not release copies of Trump's tax returns so The Associated Press can not independently verify their conclusions. A White House official has said Trump is considering 11 people to replace Comey.

"One thing I learned at DOJ about Comey: he leaves a protective paper trail whenever he deems something inappropriate happened", former Obama Justice Department spokesman Matthew Miller tweeted Thursday night about the White House dinner. "Nearly all of them are very well-known", Trump said aboard the plane that took him to Lynchburg, Virginia, where he gave the commencement address at Liberty University.

Coupled with Comey's independence in his almost four years as director was an unusual openness about the FBI's work. As long as Donald Trump remains president, our governing institutions are threatened.

The White House had claimed that Comey was sacked because of his handling of the Hillary Clinton e-mail investigation and general incompetence. In a bid to allay concerns, Senate leaders invited Rosenstein to brief all 100 senators next week. John Cornyn, who Trump is reportedly considering.

Sanders attributed the disconnect in the week's explanations to the fact that she had not directly asked Trump when he'd made the decision to fire Comey until shortly before Thursday's press briefing.

"Donald Trump is doing this to get out from under the Russian Federation investigation", Fallon said. Luttig clashed with the Bush White House on a prominent terror case, rebuking the administration for its actions in the case involving "enemy combatant" Jose Padilla.
