Bicyclists in the annual Amgen Tour of California men's race made their way along the Central Coast on Tuesday, and will start Stage 4 from Santa Barbara on Wednesday morning.

With the finish about 2,000 feet away, Sagan, a member of team BORA-hansgrohe, sprinted uphill and was shoulder to shoulder with several riders before he accelerated and won the longest stage of the tour by a bicycle length ahead of second-place finisher Rick Zabel of Germany, who rides for Team Katusha Alpecin. The victor of Stage 2, Majka has two seconds on George Bennett and 14 seconds on Ian Boswell, while top overall contenders Brent Bookwalter and Andrew Talansky are 48 seconds adrift.

Daniel Jaramillo of UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling is leading the King of the Mountain competition.

Meanwhile, Latvian rider Toms Skujins' withdrawal from the race was confirmed following his heavy fall in Monday's second stage.

His team, Cannondale-Drapac, later announced that he had a concussion, a broken left collarbone and road rash. A medical evaluation was ongoing, the team said.
