Fox News on Friday announced that it had fired "The Five" co-host Bob Beckel for a remark he made to an employee of color.

It's not clear what the alleged remark was, but Fox said in a statement to Variety that Beckel's words were "insensitive".

Beckel joined Fox News in 2000 after a long career in politics that included a role as the campaign manager for 1984 Democratic presidential candidate Walter Mondale.

"We tried to work with Bob for months, but we couldn't hold "The Five" hostage to one man's personal issues", Shine said.

No other details were immediately available, though The Wrap reported HR at Fox News was informed of the incident on Tuesday evening and did a "thorough investigation" before giving Beckel the axe. Executives conducted an internal investigation, this person said, and made a decision to part ways with Beckel Friday morning.

Beckel, 68, has been accused of a pattern of incentive and racist behavior and will be the subject of a forthcoming lawsuit by the IT employee, according to a statement released by Wigdor LLP on Friday.

Former Naval Station Mayport sailor arrested in fatal Times Square crash
The NYPD released a statement, saying, "It is believed to be an isolated incident, it remains under investigation". Rojas initially tested negative for alcohol, but more detailed drug tests are pending, according to officials.

Douglas Wigdor and Jeanne Christensen, lawyers handling a growing racial discrimination lawsuit filed by current and former Fox employees, said in a joint statement that Beckel told one of their clients, a black IT worker, that he was leaving the office while the employee serviced his computer because the employee is black.

Wigdor and Christensen said that they "intend on holding 21st Century Fox accountable for these actions".

Beckel was co-host of "The Five", a roundtable opinion program which recently moved from 5:00 p.m.to 9:00 p.m. amid the scheduling shake-up following host Bill O'Reilly's firing over sexual harassment allegations.

Fox News' internal culture has been under intense scrutiny in recent weeks.

Beckel was co-host of "The Five" which recently moved to primetime when Bill O'Reilly was sacked from the network amid a variety of sexual harassment allegations. Fox continues to grapple with perceptions in the wake of the ousters of both Roger Ailes, its former chief executive, last year, as well as Bill O'Reilly, its top host. Staffers have been urged to come forward if they believe they witness discriminatory behavior.
