She meant to stay for 88 days, and had quit her job prior to flying, but had a tourist visa, as well as a return flight.

They searched her personal diary during an alleged six-hour interrogation and concluded she was going to stay in the U.S. illegally.

But when she arrived in Honolulu, she was taken to an interview room where her luggage was searched.

In a Facebook post, Ms Hill says she was interrogated over six hours with "every inch of my luggage searched".

She claims the officers were "convinced" she was planning to overstay her visa due to a series of notes in her diary.

She claimed officials told her they believed she was attempting to immigrate illegally because her diary had notes such as "going away for drinks" and "last day at work".

Molly is pictured with her US-based boyfriend, Ross Maidl.

The Melbourne woman has described the ordeal as "something out of a movie".

Hill said the prison officers were "slightly more friendly", telling her she was unlucky and "shoulda fell in love with a Canadian".

The interrogation over, Ms Hill was told there were no return flights to Australia that day so she would need to spend the night in a "detention centre" - which turned out to be a federal prison.

"A few more hours later, myself and a Japanese woman were handcuffed and transported to the detention centre, which was a federal prison".

Business leaders are watching closely for more information on the administration's primary goals in negotiation. Hatch (R-Utah) said in a statement. "Many chapters are outdated and do not reflect modern standards", he said.

In a lengthy status to her Facebook, she said she had been detained, strip searched, and kept in a "women's prison" upon arrival in the U.S., before being put back on a plane to Australia.

She was then forced to buy a $620 ticket to Sydney - despite living in Melbourne and already having a return ticket home.

"The next morning it was my birthday".

Ms Hill tried to sleep through the night but was kept awake by her cellmate, who would drain the toilet to "chat to her boyfriend upstairs through the toilet pipes".

'They said "you're getting released".' I was supposed to be spending the day with my boyfriend, but I was still detained'.

'I was handcuffed, given a prison uniform sent behind bars.

"I stared at the walls for another four hours, then my possessions were finally returned and I was escorted by customs security into the aeroplane for my next 11-hour flight".

Hill said the ordeal was surreal and took "a big chunk of money, heartache and tears".

News.com.au has contacted US Customs and Border Protection for comment.

"They added: "(There's been no) wrongdoing of any kind".

Hill's ordeal follows that of Sydney man Baxter Reid who was locked up by United States immigration in April for overstaying his visa by one hour.
