"Bob Beckel was terminated today for making an insensitive remark to an African-American employee", a network spokesperson said in a short statement.

The initial report states that Beckel was sacked for making an "insensitive remark to an African-American employee". After a four-month absence, reportedly to treat addiction to pain medication, Fox removed Beckel from The Five, its almost unwatchable roundtable of unfiltered idiocy, and showed no sympathy in the aftermath.

According to Wigdor, who represents several other current and former Fox News employees in a racial discrimination lawsuit, the network executives attempted to coerce the employee into withdrawing the complaint.

Beckel, a former Democratic political strategist, had returned to the network in January after a stint as a commentator on CNN. His termination was effective Friday, Fox News said in a statement.

Woman who left damning restaurant review on TripAdvisor facing legal action
Sarah Gardner dined at the scenic wedding venue in Kent but she said staff were rude to her when the tried to book a table. But according to the Daily Mail other people have also been forced to edit or remove reviews.

Fox News said Lord started an investigation into the complaint seven minutes after it was received. Fox denied that anyone tried to intimidate the employee and said Beckel had apologized.

A representative for Beckel didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.

Maybe it's a sign that Fox News, after years of covering for Roger Ailes and Bill O'Reilly, is being extra vigilant about questionable behavior exhibited by old white men on the payroll. Beckel previously left Fox News in 2015 after undergoing back surgery.

Rupert Murdoch, executive chairman of Fox News, unexpectedly announced Beckel's return to Fox News earlier this year, saying he was "missed by many fans of 'The Five'".
