Here's everything Google announced at its big I/O conference

Frank Williams | 19 May, 2017, 11:40

Another Google I/O keynote has happened and, again, we have mixed feelings about what we saw.

This type of interaction is representative of the shift from mobile-first to AI-first. Some of them are pretty damn neat. Here's a what a good photo looks like, now take this bad photo and make it look better. That leaves billions more for Google to potentially reach in coming years.

Google hasn't released any absolute numbers for Android TV, but Android Engineering VP Dave Burke said Wednesday that the platform now sees one million new device activations every two months. Google will take things a notch higher by giving users detailed information on their data use and providing carriers like Safaricom with access to an API which they can take advantage of to let their users have more control of the data they consume on their devices. Google Lens goes a long way toward making that vision more concrete. Point your phone at a flower, and Google Lens will tell you what kind of flower it is.

The Google Home gadget has some new and improved features. It's announced new features to its internet-connected Home speaker such as hands-free calling. Google has also flipped the switch on Bluetooth for the Google Home meaning you can now stream musics from any Bluetooth source right to your Google Home speaker. Apps will load faster, background processes will be shut down to prevent unnecessary resource hogging and any unnecessary stuff will be shut down and certain new features will reduce the number of steps to execute a task-all this will be part of the performance.

The second big feature to Android O isn't a standard "feature" at all. Oh wait, they're lame as hell. The company has also announced that Android O will be bringing in improvements in battery life and security. The dashboard will provide data on how these issues are impacting end users and guidance to help developers resolve the problem. The developer reaction alone was worth the announcement.

Yep you guessed it, this one is US and Canada only, for now at least. If you like to respond to emails with your brain like a normal human, keep reading.

Google says that the Go will come to users in 2018 although it is probably too early for it to talk about what shape the Go can take. With Android Go, the company wants to usher ring 1 billion people into the smartphone arena.

Leicester want top-half finish - Vardy
Defenders Wes Morgan (hamstring) and Robert Huth (foot) are out and are likely to miss the finale against the Cherries. After the Tottenham game, Leicester host Bournemouth in their final fixture on Sunday.

This is not the first time Google is hoping to bring better experience to budget phones users with a special version of Android.

Google now says that it learned a lot from Android One and has used some of those lessons to ensure that Android Go works as intended.

As far as the name is concerned, Android Go is clearly inspired by YouTube Go, an lightweight version of YouTube. Not only device bootup, but apps also run significantly faster on the newer OS.

One year after introducing its Daydream View platform, Google has announced new phone partners and an unnamed Daydream-compatible headset that doesn't need a phone. So this could be cool.

Do you get lost in stores or in the subway or even in your own home? The new feature which Google also mentioned called Smart Text Selection.

What's more, the assistant will soon be able to complete transactions and supply information about objects captured by the smartphone's camera, executives said.

The potential for Google Lens is only going to grow as Google's capabilities in these areas become stronger. I am not sure if this is a server-side switch or an app update (I only noticed it this afternoon), but it's super cool nonetheless.
