Retired Gen. Michael Flynn has not yet told the Senate intelligence committee how he plans to respond to a subpoena for documents relevant to the former national security adviser's interactions with Russian Federation, committee chairman Richard Burr said, reversing his earlier comment that Flynn would not cooperate.

The Senate Intelligence Committee's counterterrorism probe took on added significance after President Donald Trump dismissed FBI Director James Comey last week amid allegations of Russian meddling in the 2016 us presidential election.

Asked about his opinion of the president now, Flynn reiterated his loyalty to Trump.

Earlier on Thursday, the committee's Republican chairman, Senator Richard Burr, told reporters that Flynn's lawyers said he would not honor a subpoena for the documents.

Flynn "is not cooperating so far". Hours earlier, Burr said Flynn's lawyer said he wouldn't comply, "and that is not a surprise to the committee".

Congress could seek civil enforcement of the subpoena, a step the House tried to take against former Attorney General Eric Holder after he was held in contempt of Congress in relation to the "Fast and Furious" operation scandal.

Food Prices Surge As Nigeria's Inflation Rate Drops To 17.24 in April
The typical household will need an extra £742 a year to maintain the same standard of living they enjoyed in April 2016. This is on top of rising clothing, vehicle tax, and electricity prices that affected overall consumer prices.

A lawyer for fired National Security Adviser Michael Flynn has informed the Senate Intelligence Committee he will not honor its subpoena for private documents.

On Feb. 13, Trump ordered Flynn to resign amid media reports that the national security adviser had lied to Pence about discussing US sanctions with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak in December 2016.

The communications had been intercepted by the US intelligence community because they involved Russian officials, who are routinely monitored for national security concerns.

What would happen if Flynn really were to ignore the committee's subpoena?

On April 1, the Senate panel turned down the offer, according to NBC News.

The Intelligence Committee is seeking to interview Flynn as part of its probe of Russian election interference. The Intelligence Committee would have to vote whether to issue a citation for contempt, and if so, the full Senate would then vote on it. If the certification were issued to the U.S. Attorney for D.C. or EDVA (or any other district, for that matter), the relevant offices would report to Rosenstein, and not Attorney General Sessions who is [recused], in deciding whether or not to refuse to bring the matter to the grand jury.
