The world's most popular EV in terms of sales, the Leaf will be moving into the new generation this year with a completely new design language, autonomous features and a much higher range compared to the current version.

Also, being worked on are programmes called Vehicle-To-Home (V2H) and Vehicle-To-Grid (V2G) which basically work out ways the Nissan LEAF's power source (the battery-run electric motor) can be used when the car's is not being driven.

The Japanese automaker has officially announced it's gearing up for the introduction of the second-generation leaf fully electric compact, releasing the first teaser image that has us all exciting and geared up for the official introduction.

No specific details accompany the teaser. The headlamp housing is similar to the one seen on Nissan's IDS concept that was showcased at the 2015 Tokyo Motor Show.

What do the Lib Dems stand for and who is Tim Farron?
He adds that the Lib Dems only offer 15 hours of free childcare to all two-year-olds - half of Labour's promised 30 hours. It comes after Mr Farron became embroiled in controversy over his views over whether gay sex was a sin.

With ProPilot onboard, the new LEAF could have the ability to drive itself on single-lane roads and learn more about roads which it goes through. Also expect to see Nissan's V-Motion grille on the EV and floating roof.

Today, the world gets its first glimpse at the next-generation LEAF, the next chapter in Nissan's Intelligent Zero-Emissions Mobility.

The gains will come thanks to new battery pack options for the Leaf that will enable Nissan to sell it with a variety of specs, as Tesla does with its models.

Aside from the design, the range is expected to be the biggest upgrade on the new model.
