Gov. Kate Brown, 56, - pictured in April at the Capitol Ceremonial office in Salem, Oregon - pardoned a fourth-grade boy who admitted to taking a hazelnut and a pen during a recent tour of the state Capitol.
"Samuel, in exchange for your apology, debt repayment, and return of the pen you lifted, I formally pardon you from any further penalty", she wrote.
Shared on Facebook, the letter included the swiped pen and a dollar, to replace a hazelnut he took.
