Celtics, Lakers, 76ers have plenty riding on the National Basketball Association lottery

The 2017 NBA Draft order was finalized on Tuesday night after the draft lottery, as the Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Lakers and Philadelphia 76ers walked away with the top three picks.

CELTICS: When Boston sent Pierce and Garnett to Brooklyn as part of a draft-night trade in 2013, the Celtics not only acquired the Nets' first-round picks in 2014, 2016 and 2018, but also the right to swap first-round selections in 2017.

There is risk that one of the picks doesn't pan out or another team builds a better core than Boston. "I don't think it's a matter of which pick we got, anybody we're going to get is going to add something", 76ers center Joel Embiid said.

When the Celtics traded Garnett and Pierce after the duo played six seasons together and won the National Basketball Association title in 2008, they began a rebuild.

The Nets meanwhile have declined, getting progressively worse results since the deal. With the first overall pick a year ago, they drafted forward Ben Simmons out of LSU. "Now it's our turn 4 years later to take some benefits from the trade". It's a Boston team that many wrote off after the Celtics fell into a 0-2, first-round hole against the Bulls.

Owner Wyc Grousbeck was the lucky charm for a team that, despite its shamrock logo, hasn't had such good fortune in the lottery. "Game last night, Game 7, a tough Washington team". Tonight, they are hosting the defending champion Cleveland Cavaliers, led by Lebron James...it's been a good week for The Celtics. I say, long term, your son will be more valuable than Markelle Fultz. Not only did the Lakers keep the pick, but they actually moved up a spot, to No. 2.

Moon warns 'high possibility' of conflict with North
In March, South Korean officials voiced concerns that Beijing was limiting tourism to their country as an unofficial sanction. The Thaad deployment has already had an impact, after its TPY-2 radar component detected Sunday's missile launch.

For the Philadelphia 76ers, it should not even be a question: the time is now. "There really was no way to walk out of here disappointed given the possible outcomes we faced".

The first 10 picks could feature as many as five point guards being selected, dropping some of the premier big men to the next 10 and letting teams with serious needs in the frontcourt get their pick of some of the best frontcourt players.

"That's all we working out for is the Lakers", LaVar Ball told Lakers Nation.

Phoenix will get the fourth overall pick in its eighth straight lottery appearance.

Orlando is sixth, followed by Minnesota, New York and Dallas. Whether it's Portland's Damian Lillard, New Orleans' DeMarcus Cousins, or (cough, cough) Russell Westbrook, the Celtics should remain open to bringing in another star.
