Engaged doctors murdered in luxury condo likely knew their killer

Kenny Thornton | 20 May, 2017, 03:35

Contrary to initial reports, Conley said Teixeira did not fire on responding officers. Bampumim Teixeira is charged with killing the two doctors.

Josh Golden, the owner of Luxury Residential Group, says that his company regularly works with the Macallen building to sell units and recently sold the penthouse across the hall from the couple's unit. They had been alerted by two 911 calls, one from a friend of Fields who was anxious.

Dr Field had sent the text message to a friend, said prosecutors.

According to Pappas, a search of the condo resulted in the discovery of the bodies of the doctors and Evans said Friday night authorities had the individual responsible in custody.

Additionally, Conley said that Teixiera may not have known the victims: Dr. Lina Bolanos, 38, and her 49-year-old fiancé, Dr. Richard Field. The victims were found bound and dead. A bag of Bolanos' jewelry was later found at the scene. Teixeira was held without bail. A not-guilty plea was entered on his behalf for both charges. The pair was engaged to be married, Fox 25 Boston reported.

Teixeira's court-appointed attorney did not return PEOPLE's call for comment.

A judge also agreed to impound some documents in the case for 90 days.

Police say someone reported a man with a gun at the Macallen Building in South Boston around 8 p.m. Friday, and officers said they found Teixeira.

They shot Teixeira in his hand, abdomen and leg during his arrest.

The mother of a Colombian doctor killed along with her fiance in South Boston last week took to Facebook over the weekend to mourn the loss of her daughter. He has injuries that are not considered life-threatening. Teixeira sat with his eyes closed during the arraignment.

Bolanos worked as a pediatric anesthesiologist at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary where she was regarded as "outstanding" in her profession and as an anesthesiology instructor at Harvard Medical School.

Teixeira has two previous larceny convictions, according according to Suffolk County District Attorney's Office spokesman Jake Wark. It could not be determined if he has a lawyer.

Officers fired back, hitting him multiple times.

Bolanos was a pediatric anesthesiologist at Massachusetts Eye and Ear and was engaged to Field.

The North Shore Pain Management centre, where he had worked since 2010, spoke of him as a "guiding vision" who gave patients and colleagues his "tireless devotion". According to WCVB, the police commissioner said that for "someone to come here, go up the the 11th floor, to the penthouse, we got to believe that somehow there was some type of knowledge of each other". Thirty-year-old Bampumim Teixeira sustained minor gunshot wounds and was transported to Tufts Medical Center.

Evans said the officers were "pretty shaken up" but not injured.

District Attorney Daniel Conley said investigators have not yet determined what Teixeira's motive was and why he "would attack them so viciously" in their home.

"Please understand that because of the ongoing investigation, [management is] severely restricted on what we can proactively disclose to the community without police authorization".
