Trump did so after top FBI officials, including now-fired Director James Comey, reportedly refused a White House request to knock down news stories on possible Trump campaign-Russia links, and after Comey reportedly declined Trump's entreaty to end the investigation into former national security adviser Michael Flynn.

"We will be following up with subpoenas, and those subpoenas will be created to maximize our chance of getting the information that we need", said Rep. Adam Schiff, the ranking Democrat on the panel, Reuters and CNN reported.

Former CIA director John Brennan told Congress that Russian Federation interfered in the 2016 USA presidential election won by Republican Donald Trump.

USA congressional committees and a special counsel named by the Justice Department this month are investigating whether there was Russian interference in the 2016 US election and the possibility of collusion between Trump's campaign and Russia.

The conversations focused on Paul Manafort, who headed the Trump campaign at the time, and Michael Flynn, who was advising Trump on national security issues, according to the report.

Kushner, a key White House adviser, had meetings late previous year with Russia's ambassador to the U.S., Sergey Kislyak, and Russian banker Sergey Gorkov.

Former Trump campaign adviser Carter Page said he'll testify in a closed-door meeting before the House Intelligence Committee.

Brennan Says He Had Concerns About Russian Contacts With Trump Campaign
He says the committee will be "following up with subpoenas" to maximize the chances of getting information from Flynn. The classified information was reportedly about an ISIS threat and provided to the U.S.by Israeli intelligence.

"I said that all Americans, regardless of political affiliation or whom they might support in the election, cherished their ability to elect their own leaders without outside interference", Brennan said. He also said that, when he stepped down from the Central Intelligence Agency as Trump took office, he still did not know if there had been collusion.

One of Kushner's attorneys, Jamie Gorelick, said in a statement her client would cooperate with the investigation.

Brennan's confirmation of contacts between Russian officials and members of Trump's team, increased the pressure on investigators to determine whether the Trump camp colluded with the Russians. Flynn had rejected the earlier subpoena for records as being so broad that providing them could make him vulnerable.

House oversight committee chairman Jason Chaffetz told acting Federal Bureau of Investigation director Andrew McCabe that he wants records of Mr Comey's contacts with the White House and Justice Department dating to September 2013, when Mr Comey was sworn in as Federal Bureau of Investigation director under president Barack Obama. Cummings asked the committee's chairman, Rep. Jason Chaffetz, R-Utah, to subpoena the White House for documents related to Flynn.

He said he had personally told a senior Russian security official that continued meddling would backfire and prevent any warming of relations after the election.

He said that when he left office in January, "I had unresolved questions in my mind as to whether or not the Russians had been successful in getting US persons involved in the campaign or not to work on their behalf".
