Even royals aren't spared the awkwardness of bumping into an ex at a wedding, as Prince William may have realised after a former romantic partner was invited to Pippa Middleton's wedding.

Prince Harry's other half was nowhere to be seen at St Mark's Church in Berkshire, however, it is now known that the actress turned up to the reception.

Pippa Middleton arrives for her wedding to James Matthews at St Mark's Church on May 20, 2017 in Englefield Green, England.

Newlyweds Pippa Middleton and James Matthews celebrated their nuptials at a lavish reception at the Middleton family estate in Bucklebury, England, on Saturday.

As royal enthusiasts wonder what made Markle skip the much-awaited church wedding, sources claim that was the focus of the royal couple - to remain as undercover as possible.

The airspace above both villages has been closed to prevent intrusive press crews from flying overhead or launching drones to get video footage.

According to the report, Markle arrived arm in arm with her Royal boyfriend at the black tie 'do wearing a backless maroon gown.
