Kellogg Co.is shuttering distribution centers across the nation and cutting more than 1,000 workers, as it follows through with a cost-cutting plan amid falling sales.

Even fossil fuel companies such as Exxon Mobil, BP and Shell say the United States should abide by the deal. The United States is the world's second-biggest carbon dioxide emitter behind China.

The company said it is providing severance, benefits and retention packages for employees impacted by the layoffs.

Documents from the Texas Workforce Commission said the last day for distribution center employees in the Houston facility, at 3010 Claymoore Park, will be between July 29 and August 11.
