Kathy Griffin fired from CNN over severed-head Trump stunt

Francis Olson | 01 June, 2017, 19:56

Amid the headlines about comedienne Kathy Griffin holding a fake bloody, severed head made to look like Republican President Donald Trump's during a photo shoot, a follow-up report from TMZ alleged that Trump's young son Barron saw the photo and thought it was real.

"As a mother, a wife, and a human being, that photo is very disturbing", Melania Trump said in a statement.

Within hours after posting the image and a behind-the-scenes video of the photo shoot, Griffin apologized, saying that she had gone "way too far".

Griffin, 56, a two-time Emmy-winning performer known for her deliberately provocative brand of humor, has appeared since 2007 as co-host of CNN's New Year's Eve broadcast from Times Square in NY with anchor Anderson Cooper, Reuters wrote.

Trump pulling US out of Paris climate deal, reports say
The higher temperatures rise, the worse the situation will be so we need to halt the emissions that cause global warming. Trump changed his mind on large decisions before, even if he previously indicated an action in the opposite direction.

"Nothing sadder than a hot person in a wheelchair", he tweeted in 2014.

A more recent tweet calls for violence against entire regions of the United States.

Jennings even penned a tasteless pun about Fox News producer Roger Ailes' death. "It is clearly disgusting and completely inappropriate".

Some doubt that public pressure will have an effect on Simon and Schuster's relationship with Ken Jennings. This occurred after old videos resurfaced of Yiannopoulos joking about his molestation by a Catholic priest that occurred when he was a young teen.

"CNN has terminated our agreement with Kathy Griffin to appear on our New Year's Eve program", CNN tweeted.

International Business Times reached out to Simon & Schuster for a comment but had not yet heard back from them at the time of this story. The fact that Jennings is a children's book author only adds insult to the injury that he perpetrated on the 11-year-old son of President Trump.
