Kathy Griffin has lost her job co-hosting New Year's Eve on CNN after she posted online a bloody image that resembled President Donald Trump.

CNN has terminated our agreement with Kathy Griffin to appear on our New Year's Eve program.

CNN has now ended their New Year's Eve broadcast deal with her.

In an earlier statement, CNN called the photo "disgusting and offensive".

As expected, Donald Trump could not have kept quiet about Kathy Griffin's recent controversial post involving him.

"As a mother, a wife, and a human being, that photo is very disturbing", Flotus said in an official statement while reacting to the comedienne's fake decapitation stunt.

She later apologised by posting a 31-second video message, where she admitted that she went "too far". She says it was mocking President Trump.

I am sorry. I went too far.

"I sincerely apologize. I am just now seeing the reaction of these images", she wrote on Tuesday, after the furore had reached epic proportions. It wasn't amusing. I've made a lot of mistakes in my career.

However, after facing a lot of backlash Griffin took to Twitter once again with an emotional apology and plea for the public's forgiveness. "I will continue. I ask your forgiveness".

"Kathy Griffin should be ashamed of herself", Trump tweeted about the photo on Wednesday. "My children, especially my 11 year old son, Barron, are having a hard time with this".

First Lady, Melania Trump, also criticized the photo.

Griffin also asked the photographer to take down the photos, even though the disturbing images had already spread across the internet. "When you consider some of the atrocities happening in the world today, a photo opportunity like this is simply wrong and makes you wonder about the mental health of the person who did it".
