Telangana CM Rao extends support to NDA's Presidential candidate

"After meeting all the national parties and receiving feedback from sections of society, all the senior leaders and party members have chose to nominate Ram Nath Kovind as the NDA presidential candidate in the BJP parliamentary board meeting held today".

All senior ministers of the party, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and party president Amit Shah, will attend Monday's meeting, IANS reported.

Reacting to the development, NDA ally at the centre, Shiv Sena said the BJP should have consulted its allies before naming the candidate. "I am hoping for consensus on Mr. Kovind's candidature", Mr.Shah said.

The Opposition had said they would announce their candidates only after the ruling party had picked theirs. Minister of External Affairs Sushma Swaraj and Minister of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation and Information and Broadcasting in the Modi minister Venkaiah Naidu have also arrived at the party Head Quarters in the capital. He served as Member on various important Parliamentary Committees. "Prime Minister Narendra Modi has spoken to Sonia Gandhi, Manmohan Singh, and other political leaders on the issue", Mr. Shah said.

Ram Nath Kovind, served as Member of Board of Management of Dr B R Ambedkar University, Lucknow. He was the Central Government Advocate in Delhi High Court from 1977 to 1979 and the Central Government Standing Counsel in Supreme Court from 1980 to 1993.
