
Danish shipping conglomerate AP Moller Maersk has confirmed that it's IT infrastructure has been subject to a major cyber-attack affecting several business units around the world.
"Right now, at this hour, we're not able to take new orders", Maersk Line Chief Commercial Officer Vincent Clerc said in a telephone interview.
Due to limited access to some of its computer systems, Maersk also has problems processing orders taken just before the breakdown, he said.
Denmark's A. P. Moller Maersk said it had IT systems down across multiple sites and select business units.
Meanwhile, the Government today said it has initiated proactive measures and is keeping a close vigil on the ransomware attack that has hit Europe, maintaining that there is no large-scale impact on India yet.
India's shipping ministry said meanwhile a terminal run by Maersk at the Mumbai port, the largest in India, was also affected.
