Father charged with murdering 5-year-old son he had reported missing

Freda Brock | 28 June, 2017, 14:10

He is suspected of murdering his son, Aramazd Andressian, Jr., who went missing from South Pasadena, California in April 2017. Andressian Sr was arrested in Las Vegas, NV on June 23, 2017.

Andressian Sr. was being held in Las Vegas on $10 million bail.

Andressian told investigators he arrived at the park with his son and waited for the golf course to open, and admitted ingesting prescription medication that was not prescribed to him, Mendoza said previously. He told authorities he'd taken prescription pills, and the auto had been doused in gasoline.

The father told investigators he had taken his son to the park while they waited for a nearby golf course to open.

Andressian was arrested on one count of murder on Friday and will be arraigned in Los Angeles later this week, where he will face 25 years to life in prison if convicted.

Detectives believe Andressian, 35, killed his son because of tumultuous divorce proceedings with his estranged wife, authorities said.

Police began investigating after Andressian failed to drop the boy off with his mother after the weekend.

Nicole Nishida, a spokeswoman for the sheriff's department, declined to say what evidence led to Andressian's arrest.

Days and Nights at the Disneyland Resort
Disney is used to adoring fans but one man has topped them all, visiting its California theme park 2,000 days in a row. Many times he says he'll just walk around or find a place to sit and watch people while listening to the area music.

They said they had presented evidence in the case to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office and obtained a murder filing against the suspect.

Despite an exhaustive search of several locations over the past two months, including some that have been combed through multiple times, the boy's body has not yet been found, according to sheriff's Lt. Joe Mendoza. In the meantime, Andressian Sr. relocated from South Pasadena to Nevada. The judge then clarified that California authorities have 30 days from now to come collect Andressian Sr. The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department says the father of a 5-year-old who has been missing for two months has been arrested on suspicion of his son's murder.

Andressian Sr.is now facing an unusual "no-body murder charge", Lacey said, according to KTLA. Aramazd Andressian Sr. remained in custody following his arrest in Las Vegas on Friday and is expected to be arraigned in Los Angeles later this week, L.A. County Sheriff's Department officials said at a news conference.

Authorities say Andressian and Aramazd were last seen late on April 20 when they visited Disneyland in Anaheim, California. Surveillance video taken six hours later showed Andressian Sr.at Lake Cachuma in Santa Barbara County.

The mother of the boy, Ana Estevez, implored the public for any information about Andressian Jr.'s disappearance and asked for volunteers to help hand out flyers. Police have also served search warrants to the missing boy's grandmother and have searched her home.

This isn't the first time that Andressian Sr. has been arrested in connection with his son's disappearance. "I can only speculate that I must have been attacked", he said afterward. Picqui was everything great in my life, and I can not imagine the emptiness and the void that I will bear until we are together again someday.

"I miss him terribly", Estevez said in May.
