World No. 5 Roger Federer breezed past rising German star Alexander Zverev in straight sets Sunday to win the Gerry Weber Open in Halle for a record ninth time.

Zverev defeated Spanish seventh seed Roberto Bautista Agut 6-7 (6/8), 7-6 (7/1), 6-1 while Gasquet saw off Robin Haase of the Netherlands 6-1, 3-6, 6-1. While Zverev has improved by leaps and bounds, he still has the occasional drop in his game, and that's when veteran and elite players take advantage and find the opening to win the match.

Zverev did finally set a break point on the Federer serve in the first game of the second set, but it passed by and Federer raced on to complete victory.

New Technology For Flu Vaccination On The Horizon
The study of 100 adults found that the patch triggered a strong immune response and did not cause any serious side effects. An experimental flu vaccine patch with dissolving microneedles appears safe and effective, a preliminary study shows.

The 28-ranked Khachanov fired a backhand long in the breaker to send Federer through to a showdown with Zverev. After winning the Australian Open earlier this year, he has continued to amaze the tennis world with his play.

Federer will head into Wimbledon, which starts on July 3, as favourite to win an outright record eighth title and surpass the mark of seven he now shares with Pete Sampras. "I'm still just very happy how I was able to close it out in the tiebreaker", said Federer, who first reached the Halle final in 2003, when his opponent on Sunday was just 6". "He could have been a little nicer to me", Zverev said. The 20-year-old German most recently crashed out in the first round of the French Open but has shown that he can perform against the top players with his Italian Open win over Novak Djokovic.

Gasquet, a two-time Wimbledon semi-finalist, grabbed the first set against Zverev with a break at 5-4. "It was a hard match". "I'll prepare myself the best I can, but he's definitely the favourite in that match".

At Queen's yesterday, Spain's Feliciano Lopez saved one match point before completing a week of upsets in West London by converting his third match point to beat fourth seed Maric Cilic in a marathon final 4-6, 7-6, 7-6.
