Modi in US: India, America ask Pakistan to rein in terror; vow to take on Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, D-Company Indian PM Modi meets his Dutch counterpart for talks

A joint statement issued after their meeting said the two sides "called on Pakistan to ensure that its territory is not used to launch terror attacks on other countries".

The minister said that the Congress is particularly disappointed by the fact the US President Donald Trump acknowledged the accomplishments of India under PM Modi during the last three years.

In another strong reference to Pakistan, Jaishankar said there was an extensive discussion between the two leaders on terrorism, "what its epicenter is" and how it is affecting the region, particularly the South Asian region where India is located.

"These barbarians have struck on Indian soil too many times over the decades, including the horrific attacks in Mumbai almost a decade ago, claiming the lives of more than 160 innocents, including six Americans", Pence said. The Jaish was accused of attacking the Indian Air Force base at Pathankot in Punjab, leaving seven security personnel dead.

In their remarks to the media after delegation level talks, both Modi and Trump spoke of their commitment to combat terrorism. "The most important of these was a joint agreement by both the countries to fight terror globally and what is being allegedly penetrated on Pakistan's soil", the report said. He said, India has a true friend in the White House.

Taking the time factor into consideration, as they say, only time will tell if the coordination between Modi and Trump does indeed develop, but nobody can take the credit away from both of them in the manner in which they both played well for their audience and said the right things to each other.

"We are opposed to all form of terrorism". "You should take the step for what it is". It is fixing responsibility, highlighting the problem. "There is a context to it..." There is a signalling out of it, it is focusing on a particular group and particular individual. "I think none of us can really miss that message".

The article also went on to mention that contentious issues like the U.S. pulling out of the Paris Accord and the possible action on H1B visas were not discussed during the talks. "We had very much converging viewpoint of what is the problem, let us diagnose the problem".

"It is not just an India situation".

Modi and Trump welcomed the exchange of information on known and suspected terrorists for travel screening.
