In France, the Elysee presidential palace said newly-elected leader Macron had phoned Trump to say that "nothing was negotiable" in the Paris agreement.

Macron's office on Tuesday said it had invited Trump on two occasions to attend the celebrations next month during which the United States military will take part to mark 100 years since it joined World War 1.

American soldiers will walk alongside French soldiers during the traditional Bastille Day military parade down Paris' famed Champs-Elysees avenue.

French President Emmanuel Macron has agreed to work together with US President Donald Trump to formulate a common response in case of a new chemical attack in Syria. Trump also pulled the USA out of the Paris Climate Accord, notably saying that he was elected "to represent the citizens of Pittsburgh, not Paris".

The two presidents last met in May, when they both traveled to Brussels for a North Atlantic Treaty Organisation summit. "One must show that you won't make small concessions, even symbolic ones, but also not over-publicize things, either".

Her ears and parts of her fingers were melted off in the attack, and she was left unable to walk. She remained in hospital until May of this year, when she was moved to palliative care.

I doubt the French want Trump around on Bastille Day. The two leaders met for the first time during Trump's overseas trip in May, just weeks after Macron's election victory.

In February, before Macron was elected, Trump told a political meeting that he had a friend called Jim who never went to Paris anymore, because "Paris is no longer Paris", suggesting that immigration and terrorism had damaged the French capital.

A White House statement said the visit would reaffirm the powerful links between the two nations.

A date for the visit has not been set, but May's office say there is "no change" to the plans.
