Amor Ftouhi, 49, of Quebec, Canada, was charged in federal court with violence at an global airport for stabbing officer Jeff Neville at the Bishop worldwide Airport in Flint on June 21.

The hearing was to determine if a judge would grant bail for the man accused to stabbing a police officer at Flint's Bishop International Airport.

FLINT, Mich. (AP) — A Canadian man accused of stabbing an airport police officer in Flint, Michigan, will remain in jail while his case proceeds.

During the brief appearance, this morning before U.S. Magistrate Judge Stephanie Dawkins Davis, Ftouhi's attorney Joan Morgan agreed to no bond. She told a federal judge Wednesday that the 49-year-old defendant from Montreal would be held by USA immigration authorities even if granted bond in the criminal case.

Ftouhi's next court appearance will be next week.

Ftouhi legally entered the United States at Lake Champlain, New York, on June 16 before making his way to Flint, the Federal Bureau of Investigation said last week.

Neville was discharged from Hurley Medical Center on Monday, June 26. The officer is recovering from a 12-inch gash to his neck.
