Trump pushes 'energy week' and goal of exporting resources

White House to Focus on Energy This Week Rick Perry gets handsy with Sarah Huckabee Sanders at briefing

During a briefing with reporters Monday, Perry suggested the administration would back the end of a lucrative tax credit for renewable energy - which was extended in 2015 as part of bipartisan deal to end a ban on US oil exports. However, some were left wondering what "dominance" would look like. Perry told host Joe Kernan that carbon dioxide was not "the primary control knob" for climate change. "Man is having an impact on it", Perry said, lamenting that "we can't have an intellectual conversation about just what are the actual impacts".

"One of the things we want to do at DOE is to make nuclear energy cool again, from the standpoint of - if you remember when we were kids - well, sorry, you're nowhere near my age - but when I was younger in the '60s and a lot of kids wanted to go into the nuclear energy field", he said Tuesday.

Earlier this week during a televised press conference, Secretary Perry did make the case for keeping up with the rest of the world on nuclear technology, but on closer inspection his emphasis was more focused on keeping the nation's R&D resources up to snuff rather than any compelling need to increase the nation's nuclear generating capacity.

Renewable energy advocates criticized the upcoming study for presupposing its conclusions, and they have produced their own research to counter the upcoming report (Energywire, June 27).

Perry's talk was interrupted less than two minutes after it began.

The former Texas governor appeared Tuesday at a White House briefing.

Perry said the 'other side, the people who say the science is settled, it's done, ' want to say 'if you don't believe that you're a skeptic, a Luddite'.

"The most incredible story in the U.S. has been the evolution and the prolific production of renewable resources in the U.S.", Honorable said.

Cyber attack stops shipper Maersk taking new orders, causes cargo delays
India's shipping ministry said meanwhile a terminal run by Maersk at the Mumbai port, the largest in India, was also affected. Moller Maersk said it had IT systems down across multiple sites and select business units.

Perry laid out the steps it will take to dominate on the world stage.

As governor, Texas led the nation in job creation and became home to a highly industrialized sector, he said.

"Can we agree we ought to have a conversation as a people?" the Republican cabinet secretary asked.

However, Perry said he wants to eliminate policies that give preference to any one source of energy.

"We're going to ensure that renewable energy finds its way to the grid and the tremendous resources presented by the wind, the sun, hydro are efficiently captured and then delivered", he said.

"President Trump is committed to utilizing our abundant domestic energy resources both to create jobs here at home and to strengthen America's global influence and leadership overseas", the White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer said at a press briefing on Monday.

To ensure reliability, Perry suggested, it is important that coal remains a significant part of the energy mix. He noted that recent LNG shipments have reached the Netherlands and Poland. "We are working to find the right balance so that we have a diverse supply of energy that's clean and affordable, and a grid that is safe and reliable".

"Energy policy is not just a vital element of US economic policy but also a vital element of usa foreign policy", he said. "How much effect is what at debate's here". "I tend to say, okay, let's have a conversation and get these guys together". "Absolutely not", she said.
