According to a pool report, Trump called to Gilbert to have him stand with the Cubs for pictures. Not only did the Cubs defeat the Cleveland Indians to win the 2016 World Series, but Gilbert's Cavs just lost the NBA Finals to the Golden State Warriors.

A representative for Rock Ventures, the company encompassing Gilbert's business portfolio, said in a statement the Detroit-based businessman was at the White House to educate Trump "on the incredible transformation that has taken place in the city, and the opportunities that remain ahead of us". Among them is Albert Almora, Jr., the Cubs' center fielder. "And in a year I get to meet two".

In contrast to January, not all of the team made a decision to go.

Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert was also present as President Trump met with the Cubs.

Data Points on Fallout From CNN's Russia 'Fake News' Retraction
In response to the news, Mr Trump tweeted , "Wow CNN had to retract big story on " Russia " with 3 employees forced to resign". From now on, it will be hard for the fake news media to credibly pin other similar "scandals" on Trump and his administration.

"I'm going because it's the United States of America, and I'd rather not live anywhere else except this country", said first baseman Anthony Rizzo, who was the player rep who addressed the media in January after the Obama visit.

President Donald Trump pauses as he is asked a question on health care as he meets with members of the 2016 World Series Champions Chicago Cubs, Wednesday, June 28, 2017, in the Oval Office of the White House in Washington. "It's an honor. No political ties". This was an informal trip during the Cubs' four-game series against the Washington Nationals.

Trump hijacked his photo-op with the world champion Chicago Cubs to complain about how sports teams don't want to be seen with Trump.
