Woman set on fire by ex-boyfriend in 2015 dies

Ohio lawmakers are currently deciding on a law in Malinowski's honor that would extend the penalties for those who use an accelerant to set people on fire. Malinowski's eldest daughter Kaylyn  testified before a Senate committee in the state Woman set on fire by ex-boyfriend in 2015 dies

Judy, a mother-of-two, defied the doctors to survive as long as she did and underwent 59 operations over the past couple of years in hospital. "We can prevent this from happening to other families", said the girl in an address to legislators.

A witness who called 911 said Slager and Malinowski had been arguing before she was covered in flames and that Slager tried putting out the fire. Her ears and parts of her fingers were melted off in the attack, and she was left unable to walk.

Judy's mother, Bonnie Bowes, confirmed the sad news Tuesday afternoon.

Once the autopsy is completed, if it reveals Judy's death was caused by being set on fire, he will face the charges down the track once the new law passes, as there's no statute of limitaions on murder charges in the state.

A Florida woman has been charged with sexual battery for allegedly having sex with an 11-year-old boy, an encounter that resulted in her getting pregnant, authorities said. She wanted to testify against Slager in court, but that did not happen as Slager agreed to a plea bargain after admitting to setting her on fire.

In December 2016, Malinowski struggled to talk to ABC 6 about her injuries and her unwavering support for the legislation created in her name.

According to Franklin County Prosecutor Ron O'Brien, his office is now taking necessary steps to pursue aggravated murder charges against Slager. He just stood there and did nothing. "I pray, her story got out and will save lives".

She remained in hospital until May of this year, when she was moved to palliative care.

OH legislators are now looking over a bill known as "Judy's Law" in the state senate, which would add six years of jail time to anyone who uses accelerants in attacks that leave victims disfigured or disabled. Judy Malinowski could not be saved, but authorities believe that by increasing the severity of the punishment they can prevent such incidents from taking place.

The mother-of-two fought to stay alive for two years. May they find the strength to get through this bad tragedy.
