"As you all know, that didn't happen, but I wanted to continue and stay and try to get a resolution because I understand that the state is in a very hard spot".

The House GOP Leader said the following on July 28 regarding the "political theater" in Springfield regarding the budget, "Only three days remain in this fiscal year, time is running out".

Senator Christine Radogno, the Senate Republican Leader in IL, has announced she is leaving office this weekend. "But if the solution will not come on my watch, I hope and pray that the Governor, other legislative leaders, Democrats and Republicans in the Senate and House can find a path to solve the state's problems". Gov. Bruce Rauner and her colleagues from both sides of the aisle said her leadership will be missed.

"It truly is an honor to represent the 41st Senate District and my Republican colleagues in the Illinois Senate".

"It did give me the perspective that nothing's forever", Radogno says.

Christine Radogno told surprised reporters she wasn't planning to run after this term anyway, but said she's done all she can do in her position. In her statement, Radogno thanked Cullerton for his "friendship and working relationship". I am fortunate to call her a confidant and friend. She now represents the 41st District, which includes all or some of Lemont, Indian Head Park, La Grange, Western Springs, Homer Glen, Burr Ridge, Darien, Downers Grove, Lisle, Willowbrook, Woodridge, Naperville and Bolingbrook.

Radogno says that has nothing to do with her decision to leave. "The end of the fiscal year is here, and I'm not sure that there is another natural break coming anytime soon". I wish her the best in the future.

The Senate Republican Caucus already has begun taking steps toward a "smooth, orderly and expeditious transition". Her suburban Chicago district covers communities in DuPage, Cook and Will counties.
