Venus Williams is bidding to become both the oldest Slam champion in the Open Era - beating the record set by Serena at the Australian Open in January - and the oldest Wimbledon champion in the Open Era, also set by Serena a year ago.

Williams, the No 10 seed, has showed her power from both wings throughout her performances at Wimbledon this year and her fitness has looked impeccable, highlighted by her comprehensive victories over rising stars Naomi Osaka and Ana Konjuh alongside recent French Open champion Jelena Ostapenko in successive rounds.

At the young age of 23, Muguruza is bidding to become the 27th player to win multiple major titles in the Open Era. Muguruza, who reached the Wimbledon final in 2015 but lost to Serena, won last year's French Open.

Fourteenth-seeded Garbine Muguruza defeated unseeded Magdalena Rybarikova 6-1, 6-1 to advance to her second final at the All-England Club. Venus Williams will hope to reclaim her Wimbledon crown after a nine-year wait today against Garbine Muguruza, in a final that has the makings of a classic battle of the big hitters.

In the other semifinal, Muguruza won 15 of the first 20 points en route to a 5- 0 lead. Two years ago, when she reached the final, she had found an unstoppable Serena and had surrendered her dreams of winning the title, abjectly. Only one Spaniard has previously lifted the Wimbledon women's title - Conchita Martinez, who has been coaching Muguruza at this tournament. "So I just have more information about the situation".

"I've played a lot of finals here". That final that I did helped me a lot to figure it out a way to play better in grass because before I was, like, not very experienced. "But I know I have to be the cheerleader for myself", she added.

Muguruza and Williams have met a series of four times with Williams winning three of the exchanges although all of these matches have been on hard court.

The second set then turned into an absolute rout, with Muguruza holding again before a nice backhand victor saw her claim three more break points to lead 5-0.

"It's incredible", Hingis told reporters at Wimbledon, where she is into the semi-finals of the mixed doubles. "One more win will be wonderful".

With no specific timeline for her return to competitive tennis after the birth of her baby, Serena plans on taking it day by day and just enjoying every moment with her new family.

"I'm playing well. I want to keep it up for my last match and hopefully it goes well".

"I feel very focused still". "Yeah, I definitely grew up watching [Boris] Becker and [Stefan] Edberg". "She's been really playing well on grass".

In the men's final, Federer is the heavy and emotional favorite to win his record eighth Wimbledon title in his 11 final at the All England Club.
