A Kentucky doctor preparing to give birth ended up delivering another woman's baby while in her hospital gown. Unfortunately, the umbilical cord was wrapped around the baby's neck-and nurses were telling her not to push and wait for the doctor, who was on his way back from a break. Hess paused her delivery and chose to help.

"I was not being quiet about the fact that it was hard for me not to push", Halliday-Johnson told PEOPLE in an interview.

"I put on some boots over my flip flops and found another gown to cover myself up and did put my stuff to deliver on and delivered a baby".

Dr. Hess was admitted to Frankfort Regional Hospital last Sunday and was waiting when she heard a woman screaming from another room. Later, she met Johnson's healthy baby girl named Ellen Joyce.
