Four-time gold medallist Michael Johnson is thrilled at the prospect of Los Angeles hosting the Olympic Games in 2028.

The two cities are getting the hosting rights without the usual dramatic vote.

"For the first time in a generation, we are bringing the Games back to the City of Angels".

It will also mark the third time that Los Angeles has hosted the Olympics following successful editions in 1932 and 1984.

"You were the first cities to fully benefit from the reforms of the Olympic Agenda 2020".

IOC President Thomas Bach said the votes for both cities were "unanimous". LA loves the OIympics because the Games have lifted up our city twice before.

How to know if you were affected by the Equifax breach
Most have come up with new layers of security, for example, you can get an alert when a check over a thousand dollars cashes. Morfeld also called for Equifax to provide free credit monitoring for life to Nebraskans affected by the breach.

There were no other candidates for either the 2024 or 2028 Games and the votes were a formality.

Garcetti then signed the Host City Contract to mark the conclusion of the rubber-stamping of the city as hosts of the 2028 Olympics and Paralympics.

"It is an unbelievable and defining honor for a city to host the Games, and Los Angeles stands ready to surpass all expectations in 2028". Los Angeles' Games plan is second to none and will have a far-reaching impact domestically and overseas. The new Host City Contract will also provide LA 2028 with an 80 percent share of any Games surplus and an International Olympic Committee contribution of $2 billion.

Loud applause rang out at the Lima Convention Centre shortly after the International Olympic Committee membership voted to approve a deal hashed out in July which arranged for Paris to be given 2024 and Los Angeles 2028.

Johnson's last outing at the Olympics came in Sydney in 2000, where he successfully defended his 400m title, but the 50-year-old will have no feelings of envy towards any competitors when the Games return to United States soil in 2028.
