As soon as the tech giant was intimated of these apps, they were removed from the Google Play store. "Most users grant these permissions without thinking, especially when installing an app from a trustworthy source such as Google Play". If a user downloads the malware, it requests permissions commonly associated with other applications such as permission for Internet access and SMS permissions. Not only did it force people to sign up with subscriptions via SMS, but it was also able to remotely install applications as well as leaking user information including the phone number, Global Positioning System location, installed apps, and IP address.

The malware, dubbed as the "ultimate spying tool", sends oblivious users fraudulent premium text and charges users' accounts.

Unlike the previously discovered version, this strain of malware uses so-called "packing", an advanced obfuscation technique created to bypass Google's built-in security filters.

It can steal sensitive data and collect information such as the location of a victim using the malware-hit device and its IP address. As we mentioned, once Google was noted about the malware, it removed all the malicious apps from Google Play immediately, but some of these apps found their way back on the app store. It is even more unsafe as the malware is capable of operating silently without the victim's knowledge, turning it into the ultimate spying tool. The full list of malicious apps is also mentioned in this post.

Unlike previous versions of the malware, ExpensiveWall uses an advanced obfuscation technique to evade the anti-malware protections that Google has built into Play, the researchers said.

At Least 8 Dead At Florida Nursing Home After Irma
In Hollywood, the Rehabilitation Center said the hurricane had knocked out a transformer that powered the air conditioning. Harrison on the Florida Health Innovation subcommittee which oversees legislation governing Florida nursing homes.

Many users have already written warnings about these apps in the reviews section asking others not to download them. The malware can easily be tweaked to carry out more risky tasks such as stealing data from the victim's phone or to spy on them.

The virus is called "ExpensiveWall" in honor of one of the fraudulent applications, "Lovely Wallpaper", which allegedly offered a variety of background images for smartphones.

"They also need to collaborate closer with security researchers, so that, like in this case, vulnerabilities and malicious app details can be shared quickly and pulled from stores accordingly", he added.

ExpensiveWall can only work when permissions are granted so it is important to check exactly what you downloading and agreeing to.
