Macron is calling for "the embargo measures affecting the people of Qatar, in particular families and students, to be lifted as quickly as possible", the president's office said in a statement on Friday after he met Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

"[We want] an unconditional dialogue based on mutual respect for sovereignty".

While Doha has left the dialogue door open, it has underlined that Qatar's right to follow an independent foreign policy must be respected and sanctions, which are not in line with the worldwide law, should not be imposed on the country.

"Speaking at the US-Islamic World Forum which is held in New York, Al-Thani stressed that the spread of violence and hatred have helped a lot in the eruption and creation of the terrorist organisations".

Unemployment rate up slightly to 3.5% in July
The total amount of unemployed across Mahoning, Trumbull and Columbiana counties was 15,900, up from 15,000 reported a year ago . The number of unemployed in August 2017 was 6,100, up from 5,700, and the number of employed dropped to 83,300 from 84,800.

His Highness the Emir's meeting with the United States president is expected to give a momentum to the efforts to resolve the Gulf crisis that has now entered the fourth month.

Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain and Egypt cut all ties with Qatar on June 5, accusing it of bankrolling Islamist extremists and being too close to Iran.

"As you said, Mr President, we have a problem with our neighbours", Tamim said, adding that with Trump's intervention, "hopefully we can find a solution for this problem".

Underscoring that extremism and terrorism remain the most serious challenges confronting the world, the Amir of Qatar called on leaders to take concerted action against terrorist organizations and their extremist ideologies to maintain global security and stability.
