'Game of Thrones' Writer Bryan Cogman Developing Fifth Prequel

HBO confirms a fifth 'Game of Thrones' spin-off is in the works — here's what we know There's Just Been a Major Development on the Game of Thrones Prequel Front

Game of Thrones recently wrapped up the show's seventh season on August 27 after a highly-successful seven-episode run that moved the plot forward significantly.

We get the feeling the fifth show is about this guy. In fact, Cogman has written more Game of Thrones episodes than anyone other than showrunners and co-creators David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, both of whom will reportedly not be involved in any of the show's prequels.

Martin revealed that apart from what the writers are developing, he also has ideas of his own, which he described as "four weird-ass series concepts".

Bryan Cogman, writer and executive producer of the Emmy Award-winning fantasy series, is working on a fifth prequel show being developed by HBO, Entertainment Weekly reports.

Game of Thrones writer Bryan Cogman will be working with George RR Martin in order to bring the Game of Thrones spin-off forward. Variety has confirmed that HBO will be making a fifth prequel, with popular Game of Thrones writer Bryan Cogman at the helm to pen the project.

Oil prices slip ahead of OPEC meeting
In late 2016, OPEC member-states and 11 independent oil-exporting countries entered into an agreement to reduce oil production. Global benchmark Brent crude futures, the benchmark for oil prices outside the US , rose 0.36% to $55.34 a barrel.

Cogman is known for writing 10 episodes of "Game of Thrones" - "Cripples, Bastards, and Broken Things", "What Is Dead May Never Die", "Kissed by Fire", "Oathkeeper," "The Laws of Gods and Men", "Kill the Boy", "Unbowed, Unbent, Unbroken", "Blood of My Blood", "The Broken Man", and "Stormborn".

Perhaps most excitingly, Martin added: "And I'll be working with him every step of the way; we're going to be co-creating the show".

Meanwhile, Jane Goldman, Brian Helgeland, Max Borenstein, and Carly Wray are all at work on the other four successor shows.

There are still no plot details for the prequels, although Martin has ruled out Robert's Rebellion, and none of them will see the light of the day until Thrones is finished. While Game of Thrones fans are still in shock following the Season Finale of Season 7 of the TV show, they were even more so after the announcement of the release date of the sequel.

That being said, there are dozens upon dozens of other stories throughout the history of Westeros that could be used for these "Game of Thrones" series.
