Death toll in devastating 7.3 Iran quake rises to more than 500 - state media

At least 530 people were killed and over 8,000 others injured in the 7.3 magnitude quake that rattled the border region between Iraq and Iran late on Sunday, according to the latest report of Iran's state news agency.
Tuesday has been declared a national day of mourning in Iran for hundreds of people killed in Sunday's quake that also devastated parts of bordering Iraq.
The quake killed at least 432 dead in Iran, all in Kermanshah province, and eight in Iraq.
The worst damage appeared to be in the Kurdish town of Sarpol-e-Zahab in the western Iranian province of Kermanshah.
Iran is one of the most seismically active countries in the world.
"We are living in a tent and we don't have enough food or water", he said. President Hassan Rouhani is due to visit the region on Tuesday.
"Newly constructed buildings. held up well, but the old houses built with earth were totally destroyed", he told state television.
In a statement, the Iranian government expressed sympathy with the bereaved families of the victims and declared Tuesday as a day of mourning across the country.
A Tehran cinema said it would donate half of its receipts to relief efforts, and the capital's two football teams said they were sending hundreds of tents and blankets.
More than 400 people were killed in the quake and thousands have been injured.
Red Crescent Relief and Rescue teams from Kurdistan and Markazi provincial branches are providing relief and rescue services in the city of Salase-Babajani, teams from Lorestan to Qasre-Shirin and teams from Hamedan to Sare-Pule-Zahab.
