Spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, who visited Ayodhya today in a bid to mediate in the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid dispute said a positive step had been taken but it could take three to six months to find a solution. People want to come out of this conflict. "I know it is not easy, let me talk to everyone, it is too early to reach a conclusion", news agency ANI quoted him as saying.
"There might be a few people who would say that it's not true but after meeting with people from both the communities, I strongly believe that people of both communities can together arrive at an amicable and mutually acceptable solution", he told reporters here.
As reported by The Indian Express, Vedanti said, "Who is Sri Sri Ravi Shankar to mediate?"

The apex court will commence the final hearing of the long-standing matter from December 5, a day before the 25th anniversary of the demolition of the medieval-era structure. CM Adityanath said the government is not a party in the case and it will support the parties if they come out with a mutual resolution through dialogue.
In an informal interaction with journalists after meeting Adityanath, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar said,"I want unity.I want amity". Vedanti had said that Sri Sri Ravi Shankar does not qualify to mediate on the matter as he has never been associated with the movement. This is just a beginning. And that is why, there is a need to reach consensus to resolve the matter, he stated.
Further, Vedanti also opposed the possibility of building both - mosque and temple - at the disputed site. "Even if court gives a solution, this issue will reemerge after 100-200 years", he said.
Ravi Shankar's intervention has met with condemnation from the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) and the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) as well, both of which have voiced reservations over his role. The country witnessed massive riots in which over 2000 people were killed.
