Eric Conn represented clients in Kentucky and southern West Virginia.

A fugitive Kentucky lawyer who called himself "Mr".

The arrest was first reported Monday night by Honduran news outlet El Heraldo, which included the picture of Conn surrounded by armed and masked members of the Technical Agency for Criminal Investigation in the northern Honduran city of La Ceiba.

Amy Hess, Special Agent in Charge, said that Conn is en route to the United States and will land at Blue Grass Airport between 4:30 - 5:30 p.m.

A lawyer has reportedly been captured in Honduras after fleeing the United States to avoid sentencing for bribing an administrative law judge to obligate the government to pay more than $550 million in lifetime disability payments.

Honduran reporters said agents from its national police agency had been following him for several weeks.

Eric Conn escaped house arrest in Lexington six months ago before heading to New Mexico. "He let people like my husband have trust in him, and he let that down".

"We implored him to cooperate", she said.

After Conn fled, federal agents spotted him on surveillance videos at a gas station and at a Walmart in New Mexico, near where indicted co-conspirator Curtis Lee Wyatt allegedly tested those border crossings.

The indictment said Wyatt, who had worked at Conn's Floyd County, Ky., law office, even allegedly tested security at the USA border with Mexico on Conn's behalf.

US federal agents spent months tracking Conn, who cut off his electronic monitor and fled in June.

Conn, of Pikeville, Kentucky, participated in a scheme between 2004 and 2016 that involved submitting thousands of falsified medical documents to the U.S. Social Security Administration, U.S. prosecutors have said.

Federal Bureau of Investigation agents had warned that Conn was a flight risk; an agent and other witnesses testified when he was charged in 2016 that he had stashed money in 10 countries, crossed 140 borders over eight years, and vowed he would flee to Cuba or Ecuador before he was put behind bars. White said they will enter a standard not guilty plea.
