Now, PM welcomes Sunni Waqf Board statement 'disowning' Sibal

Sibal Swamy SC rejects pleas to hear Ayodhya title cases post-2019 polls

Haji Mehboob, a member of the Sunni Waqf Board, on Wednesday said that they are in favour of an early settlement of the Ayodhya dispute and Kapil Sibal's request to defer the hearing until after the 2019 Lok Sabha polls was wrong. The Congress must clarify if Sibal is representing it or the Sunni Waqf Board? Earlier in the day, in less than 24 hours after their counsel and senior Congress leader Kapil Sibal urged the apex court to postpone the hearing on the highly sensitive issue till July 2019 - after general elections, Haji Mehboob told journalists: "Yes, Kapil Sibal is our lawyer but he is also related to a political party".

The Congress on Tuesday hit back at BJP President Amit Shah over Ayodhya issue in the apex court, saying if a party is sought to be blamed for a lawyer representing a side in a case, then Finance Minister Arun Jaitley should be dismissed for having appeared for Dow Chemicals in the Bhopal gas tragedy case. "Who he represents in court is Kapil Sibal's personal matter, Congress has nothing to do with it".

The Supreme Court yesterday deferred hearing in the case for February 8, 2018.

United Kingdom made no estimate of Brexit's economic impact
The European Commission said it is waiting for a sign from the United Kingdom government before Brexit negotiations can resume.

The High court, in 2010, had decided that the disputed land of 2.77 acre will be divided in three-way among the parties - the Sunni Waqf Board, the Nirmohi Akhara, and the Lord Ram Lalla. The court commenced the hearings in the Ayodhya dispute on Tuesday morning. They want to make it as an election manifesto and the court should not fall into the trap.

"But you dare say that the case should not be heard till 2019 elections".

"Rahulji (Gandhi) has been asking questions of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP on the record of the party's 22-year rule in Gujarat, but no answers are forthcoming. To comment on it will be unfair", Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan told reporters at the party headquarters here. "However there are many exhibits and several pleadings which are not contained in these discs and which are still awaited", he said, adding that the High Court had relied upon 781 judgments and they have to be compiled.
