Actor Terry Crews has filed a lawsuit against WME agent Adam Venit for allegedly groping him at a party a year ago, TMZ first reported and Business Insider confirmed. The lawsuit alleges that Crews alerted Adam Sandler, who was at the party and is represented by Venit, by yelling, "Adam, come get your boy! He's grabbing my nuts", court documents say.

Venit was initially suspended by WME but has now returned to work. In the suit, Crews recalls Venit's demeanour and calling out to Adam Sandler for assistance following being touched. The actor said Venit eventually called him to apologize.

The GMA interview followed a series of tweets Crews wrote detailing an alleged incident in which he was groped by an unnamed Hollywood executive. "I was horrified", Crews said on GMA.

Terry Crews previously filed a police report against Adam Venit.

The actor believes WME has ignored Venit's "long history of freakish behavior" and predatory acts because of the agent's success in representing A-list clients like Adam Sandler, Casey Affleck and Dustin Hoffman. He stopped going to WME events and taking meetings at its office to avoid running into Venit, which he says likely had a negative impact on his career. It adds that Crews told his agent at WME of the alleged incident, and met with WME chairman Ari Emanuel. Crews says Emanuel also assured him that he shouldn't fear retaliation, assert Venit "did not have the level of power despite his title as head of the Motion Picture Department". Crews maintains the suspension was nothing more than a slap on the wrist and claims he was pressured to stop talking about the assault.

Sexual assault is wrong no matter the gender of the victim or the assaulter.

Venit did not immediately respond to Business Insider's requests for comment.
