Flynn Said Russian Sanctions Would be 'Ripped Up,' Whistle-Blower Says Whistleblower: Flynn told ex-partner Russia sanctions would be ripped up

As Donald Trump delivered his presidential inaugural address last January, his national-security adviser Michael Flynn told a former business associate in text messages that a private plan to build nuclear reactors in the Mideast was "good to go" and that US sanctions hobbling the plan would soon be "ripped up", a whistleblower told congressional investigators.

That's the account a whistleblower told Rep. Elijah Cummings, the ranking Democrat on the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, which has been investigating Flynn's role in the project.

Copson is the managing partner of ACU, a company that had funded a 2015 trip Flynn took the Middle East that he failed to disclose on security clearance forms.

"I believe the American people want Congress to hold President Trump and his administration accountable", Cummings wrote, "and they are exhausted of Republicans in Congress putting their heads in the sand when faced with credible allegations of grave abuses".

'Our committee has credible allegations that President Trump's National Security Advisor sought to manipulate the course of global nuclear policy for the financial gain of his former business partners, ' wrote Cummings, Politico reported in a story on the letter.

"Mike has been putting everything in place for us", the whistleblower claims Copson said. In his letter, he asked Representative Trey Gowdy, chairman of the House Oversight Committee, to subpoena the White House for "all documents - including emails and text messages sent on personal devices" related to Flynn's foreign contacts.

Mr Copson explained that Flynn was making sure that sanctions were going to be "ripped up" as one of the first orders of business and this would allow money to start flowing to the project.

Mr. Copson told the whistle-blower that Mr. Flynn had sent him a text message during Mr. Trump's inaugural address, directing him to tell others involved in the nuclear project to continue developing their plans.

Cummings said the whistleblower, whom he did not identify in the letter, "fears retaliation", but would speak with Gowdy if he agrees to protect the whistleblower's identity.

The letter says Flynn blamed Obama for having 'f***** everything up in my nuclear deal with the sanctions'. Mr Copson was described by the whistle-blower as responding, "I couldn't be better", and that he was "going to celebrate today".

According to Cummings's letter, the witness said he met Alex Copson, Flynn's former business associate, at an inaugural event.

Mr Copson couldn't be located for comment.

That's the explosive, but unverified, allegation of a whistleblower cooperating with House Democrats probing the myriad scandals surrounding Flynn, who pleaded guilty earlier this month to lying to the Federal Bureau of Investigation about his contacts with a senior Russian diplomat. It gave Flynn a potential monetary incentive to get sanctions imposed on Russian Federation during the Obama administration lifted immediately.
