Light snow, rain chances continue overnight

Warm Tuesday leads into cooler week, showers today, possible snow this week Cold front to bring plummeting temps and rain

Here comes the cold folks! Temperatures look to only be in the upper 30s Friday for highs, and with the precipitation shield sliding back to the north some, model data output shows snow mixing in with the rain for some of these areas. The good news is we will have lots of sunshine and lighter winds than what we've had so far this week. More snow possible at night. Some winds could gust up to 30 miles per hour on land and up to 40 Knots offshore.

Today will be colder than yesterday despite mostly sunny skies.

An Arctic cold front will have moved through by the time you read this on Wednesday. Temperatures will be in the 30s most of the day topping out near 40 by mid afternoon.

It will be coldest night yet this season with low temperatures in the mid to upper teens by the morning.

For the morning commute, dropping temperatures and breezy northwesterly winds up to 15 miles per hour will drop wind chills as low as 8 degrees. The breeze should gradually subside tonight with clear skies. Just be aware of this if you happen to be traveling in that direction early Friday morning. Temps remain below normal for this time of year. If you haven't put the driveway stakes, I'd do so today - it's going to get more hard as the ground freezes and hardens over time. The trough with the jet stream should linger into next week as well, although it may modify a little at the very beginning of next week. Some flurries are possible along with another shot of cold weather. Overnight lows will continue to dip well down into the 20s.

FIRST ALERT: Snow is likely in parts of the area Friday. Strong upper level energy swings through over the weekend. The first such opportunity comes overnight Friday into Saturday as a low pressure system develops along a front out over the ocean.

Looking likely that most of the Arklatex could stay totally dry during the next seven days. After a seasonal start to the week Monday, another cold front will move through, dropping temperatures again by next Tuesday with afternoon highs only in the 30s. However, it still bears watching just in case, especially towards the I-95 corridor. Otherwise, expect partly cloudy skies, brisk breezes, and colder temperatures to be the rule through the rest of the weekend. That's when temperatures struggle to get out of the 30s and winds intensify the chill factor.

A clipper will sweep by to the northeast on Wednesday. Even with the throwing around of the term "light" it shouldn't be taken lightly! So there's a chance of some rain and snow in the midweek forecast to account for this possibility, although remember no major storms are in sight.
