"The serious allegations against Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens are very troubling". After further investigation, I have made a decision to launch a formal investigation into the alleged actions of Governor Greitens.
Soni began working at HuffPost in 2012 before leaving the company in May 2014 following an investigation into alleged sexual misconduct involving multiple women, two sources familiar with the situation said. They must know that the Office of the Circuit Attorney will hold public officials accountable in the same manner as any other resident of our city.
State legislative leaders from both parties reacted to the KMOV's report with dismay.
The woman then claims that Greitens took a picture of her as collateral.
The investigation is bad news for Greitens, but it's also unfortunate for Illinois Gov. Bruce Rauner (R), whose most-broadcast re-election ad prominently featured Greitens, Politico reports. In a statement released this afternoon, St. Louis' top prosecutor, Circuit Attorney Kim Gardner, announced that her office is digging into the case. This is and remains an nearly three-year-old private matter with no matter of public interest at stake. The facts will prove that fully. "Eric took responsibility, and we dealt with this together honestly and privately", they wrote in a statement shared on their individual Twitter accounts. Greitens got elected in part on his background as a Navy SEAL and family man with old-fashioned values.
The woman allegedly involved did not comment on the record to the station, which did not name her. She reportedly told him that Greitens took a picture of her bound, blindfolded and almost nude. He says Greitens and the woman had a consensual relationship.
The woman alleges Greitens taped her hands to some rings and blindfolded her.
"No violence. No picture taken".
Rauner and his wife contributed $100,000 to Greitens' campaign in September.
"The ad isn't running because we rotated it out for the Blago ad", Kukowski said of the commercial featuring Greitens.
Greitens denied allegations that he blackmailed the woman he had an extramarital affair with to stay quiet.
Greitens' attorney James Bennett called the allegations of blackmail "outrageous".
The woman told her ex-husband on the recording that Greitens apologized afterward and said he had deleted the photograph, KMOVreported. The former husband was calling Greitens a "homewrecker" on social media on election day 2016. But it took a year for the story to emerge publicly.
Holly Lintner, of Jackson, south of St. Louis, said she also is sticking with Greitens. The newspaper decided against writing a story based exclusively on the husband and the audio recording, because the woman in question has consistently declined to be interviewed.
Senate President Pro Tem Ron Richard, Majority Leader Mike Kehoe and Assistant Majority Leader Bob Onder released a joint statement Thursday urging Greitens to be "honest and forthright".
"I met Eric a year ago and I instantly had a big crush on him", she is heard saying in the recording.
She said on the tape that he invited her downstairs at his home because he wanted to show her "how to do a proper pull-up".
He claimed to have been contacted by law enforcement authorities as well as members of the media. The woman's ex has since released the recording and given interviews criticizing the governor. Privately, several expressed concern about the governor's admitted affair - and the more salacious behavior that he denies - but said they would wait to see what happens in the coming days before making judgment. He was fined $1,000.
You can read some of those texts below. But now the Missouri governor is being accused of some pretty heinous stuff. "Lead on and God Bless!"
"I think it's only fair to any citizen that you should be given the benefit of the doubt, and face your accusers".
