ESPNAPI_IMG_NO_ALTEXT_Value Report | Cubs avoid arbitration with Justin Wilson

The Cubs and third baseman Kris Bryant reportedly reached a deal to give Bryant a record $10.85 million as a first-year arbitration-eligible player and avoid an arbitration hearing, reports the Chicago Sun-Times.

The previous mark was held by Ryan Howard, who was awarded $10 million by a three-person panel in 2008, the Philadelphia first baseman's first year of eligibility for arbitration.

That leaves Addison Russell, Justin Grimm and Kris Bryant as players who have not settled and are left as eligible for arbitration.

According to NBC San Diego , Clifford allegedly hit her husband multiple times after getting upset over unpaid bills. Clifford's lawyer told the outlet he couldn't comment because of attorney-client privilege.

MLB Trade Rumors predicted the salary figures for the five players at $8.9 million (Bryant), $4.9 million (Hendricks), $4.3 million (Wilson), $2.3 million (Russell) and $1 million (La Stella). The biggest question heading into 2018 is whether Bryant will continue to bat primarily out of the two hole (411 at-bats last season).

According to multiple reports, the Cubs also agreed to a one-year contract with infielder, which will pay him $950,000. Bryant agreed to a $10.85 million one-year deal with the Cubs on Friday. Relief pitcher Justin Grimm also is yet to sign a new deal with the Cubs, with teams and players set to exchange arbitration numbers on Friday.
