So far, the State Department said, the USA charge d'affaires in Haiti and ambassador in Botswana have been called in by their hosts after Trump reportedly dubbed these countries "shitholes".

Dodging the questions, the President said goodbye to his guests and rushed out of the room. Trump during the session with members of Congress reportedly questioned why the USA should accept more people from Haiti and "shithole countries" in Africa instead of from nations such as Norway.

"Why are we having all these people from shithole countries come here?"

White House Principal Deputy Press Secretary Raj Shah defended Trump afterward and not deny the comments were said. They don't say Trump didn't say "shithole countries" and make other racist and vulgar remarks.

Asked how Trump's comments will affect immigration talks, Ryan responded, "We have to get it done".

Trump denied using certain "language" and tweeted the following: "The language used by me at the DACA meeting was tough, but this was not the language used", Trump insisted in a series of Friday morning tweets.

An immigration policy analyst in Washington DC makes the point that immigrants from Norway actually did badly out of immigration to the USA at the turn of the last century. The largest is El Salvadoran, the second is Honduran and the third is Haitian and when I mentioned that fact to him he said "Haitians?"

"These insulting and reprehensible statements in no way reflect the virtues of wisdom, restraint and discernment that must be cultivated by any high political authority", the Haitian government statement said, adding that it was "profoundly outraged and shocked by the tenor of the remarks" that "at a minimum are disrespectful and insulting".

He instead told lawmakers the United States should be taking in migrants from countries like Norway, whose prime minister had just visited, according to U.S. media.

The president said at the White House that "love was central" to the slain civil rights leader.

"As individual Christians, we have a biblical responsibility to place the needs of others above our own, but as Commander-in-Chief, President Trump has the constitutional responsibility to place the interest of our nation above the needs of other countries".

UN Spokesman Rupert Colville said Trump's comments, if confirmed, were "shocking and shameful" and opened the door to "humanity's worst side and go against universal values". "It's the ability to weave together multiple communities together for one nation".

There's no doubt as to the racist nature of the comment.

Trump said on Twitter Friday that his language during the meeting was "tough", but "this was not the language used".
