Iranian Officials Blast Trump Over Threat To Pull Out From Nuclear Deal

Iran calls fresh US sanctions illegal, hostile Iranian Officials Blast Trump Over Threat To Pull Out From Nuclear Deal

In particular, placing judiciary chief Ayatollah Sadegh Larijani on the sanctions list "crossed all red lines of conduct in the worldwide community. and the government of the United States will bear responsibility for all the consequences of this hostile move".

"The Islamic Republic of Iran stresses clearly that it will take no measures beyond its commitments under the JCPOA and will accept no changes to this agreement now or in the future and will not allow that the JCPOA be linked to any other issue [than the nuclear issue]", the statement read.

Shortly after Trump announced his decision, the US Treasury Department slapped 14 individuals and entities responsible for "serious human rights abuses and censorship in Iran" with sanctions.

The diplomat added that there was no sense in overestimating Trump's decision on waiving the sanctions, as the United States was seeking to undermine the JCPOA and is reinforcing a categorical approach to Iran-related issues.

Two senior Trump administration officials told Reuters on Wednesday that the president, a Republican, had privately expressed reluctance to heed the advice of top advisers recommending he not reimpose the suspended sanctions.

"Today, we learned that the president's plan includes bullying our allies into fundamentally altering the terms of a deal that they know is working for our mutual security and have publicly stated they have no interest in amending", it said. That keeps the landmark 2015 nuclear deal alive for at least another several months, despite Trump's past vows to scuttle the accord.

The UN panel's report did not say Iran had supplied missiles to the Houthis.

The ultimatum puts pressure on Europeans - key backers and parties to the worldwide pact to curb Iran's nuclear programme - to satisfy Trump, who wants it strengthened with a separate agreement within 120 days.

These were not the Cavs from Thursday night, an old, slow, disjointed group that threw in the towel shortly after the opening tap. The were playing their fifth game in eight days, their third game in four days and the second of a back-to-back set.

He also wants Congress to alter existing US laws that oversee how the federal government treats the Iran deal - but there is no sign lawmakers will do so anytime soon, or at all. Hailed by Obama as key to stopping Iran from building a nuclear bomb, the deal lifted economic sanctions in exchange for Tehran limiting its nuclear programme but Trump has argued that Obama negotiated a bad deal.

"The deal is a long-lasting victory for Iran", Rohani said, referring to the accord Tehran signed in 2015 with the United States, Britain, France, Germany, Russia, and China. "If other nations fail to act during this time, I will terminate our deal with Iran".

Diplomacy Works, a pressure group set up by former secretary of state John Kerry to defend the deal, was scathing. Trump will also demand Iran allow easier and more immediate access to worldwide inspections of its nuclear sites.

On a tweet on Friday, Mohammed Javad Zarif, the foreign relations minister in Iran said that the United States must be in strict adherence to the terms of the deal just like what was expected of Tehran.

U.S. officials say the president will work with European partners to try to broker an agreement limiting Iran's ballistic missile activities.

"If at any time I judge that such an agreement is not within reach, I will withdraw from the deal immediately", he added.

The White House is working with the congress on a US legislation, which seeks provisions to permanently prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons and subject Iran's long-range missile program to severe sanctions. Allies like French President Macron also encouraged Trump to stick with the deal.
