Chris Christie, who left office earlier this week, attempted to bypass a TSA security checkpoint on Thursday, according to CBS New York.

Seven members of a cable television crew have been charged by cops with trying to sneak a fake explosive device through a security checkpoint at Newark Liberty International Airport, the Transportation Security Administration said Thursday.

New Jersey ex-governors are allowed one state trooper to accompany them, at their request, for six months, according to Lieutenant Ted Schafer, a state police spokesman.

Christie and the state trooper complied with the directions.

The officer escorted Christie to the regular entrance.

NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - Chris Christie is disputing reports suggesting he tried to get special treatment that he enjoyed while he was governor.

The order came from police for the Port Authority of NY and New Jersey, which operates the airport, according to the person, who wasn't authorized to speak publicly about security matters.

In two tweets, Christie said he and his New Jersey State Police security detail were sent to the wrong entrance. They tried to go into the special access area where they have been going for years.

Two Christie aides sentenced to prison for engineering lane closures at the George Washington Bridge in an alleged scheme to punish a Democratic mayor who didn't endorse the governor.
